Cellar for up to 5 years. Serve chilled. Cantina Colterenzio in Italy’s South Tyrol region was founded in 1960 by 26 grape growers keen to pool resources. Over the past couple of decades the cooperative has blossomed into one of South Tyrol’s most successful wineries with over 300 members and some 300 hectares of vineyards which include some of the regions finest plots. The gentle rolling hills which characterise the local landscape produce excellent crisp white wines as well as peppery, light-bodied reds. Chardonnay has been grown in the Alto Adige for over a century and this vibrant and youthful example is grown on well-draining sandy and gravel soils. The must is vinified in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the variety and plenty of mouthwatering freshness. The young wine is then matured on the lees for several months to add complexity and a rounded, creamy texture. The nose opens with intense honeysuckle, bright citrus and tropical fruit notes while the first sip reveals a tingly acidity, plenty of minerality and a pure, clean finish. The crisp and fresh flavour profile makes this a perfect aperitif or summer sipper. It can also be served alongside seafood, leafy salads or a generous platter of cheeses.
